Change in Equipment: The cricket has changed with changing time and it also remained true to its origin in rural England. Cricket's most important tools like bat, ball, stumps, bails all are made of natural, pre-industrial materials. The material of bat changed slightly over time. But cricket has refused to make its tools with man-made materials, like, plastic, fibre glass, metal, etc.
In the matter of protective equipment, cricket has been influenced by technological change. The invention of vulcanished rubber led to introduction of pads in 1848 and protective gloves soon afterwards. Also helmets made of metal and synthetic lightweight materials were introduced.
